Return to Roots Foundation (RTRF) was started in 1999 by founder member Addi Lang, initially running as a community based organization including skills development, job creation, RDP housing, water and sanitisation (of which her own business Return to Roots Africa entirely supported the efforts of the RTRF), and currently running as a non profit organization . In having met Sue Adkins, (business strategist and guru in developing “cause related marketing” CRM) in South Africa many years ago, author of “Who Cares, Wins”, and head of Business in the Community- UK, Addi felt compelled to utilize CRM as the marketing medium for her own company i.e. Return to Roots Africa, supporting the Return to Roots Foundation, dealing with rape prevention, which taps into the desire for an easy, quick and efficient method for consumers to support causes.
Global Human Rights re Landmines
Imagine that you are a child, playing in the open fields, and discover a brand new toy, innocently just touching it, to see what it feels like, and you find yourself maimed - your life destroyed in seconds, as you become yet another amputee statistic- as this toy is one that does not recognize soldiers from children... read more
What is abuse?
Abuse is a violation of an individual's human and civil rights by any other person or persons or organisation. Abuse may consist of a single act or repeated acts. It may be physical, verbal or psychological, it may be an act of neglect or omission to act, or it may occur where a vulnerable person is persuaded to enter into a financial or sexual transaction to which he or she has not consented, or cannot consent...read more

Womans Day Tribute 2001
The Womens day tribute 2001, hosted by Return to Roots Africa, marks the beginning of a powerful association, (The Roots Foundation) , with Aubrey as a guest speaker. The constitution is primarily written for crime and rape prevention implementation, (which directly relates to HIV/AIDS), in South Africa. Sadly, the current level of financial contribution from Corporate Social Investment budget is only three percent of overall CSI budget.
Both Return to Roots Africa and TBS Services, including many other small businesses that have become benefactors, continue to make valuable contributions to the support of rape prevention implementation in peri urban and rural areas
SECURITY
Safety and security is a concern for all South Africans regardless of age, colour or gender. Unacceptable crime levels are a consequence of substandard socio-economic conditions, exacerbated by a violent history of political struggle, high enemployment levels and rapid urbanisation. With South Africa being in the Guinness Book of Records for the highest rape statistics in the world, and out of a million rapes, there were only 400 convictions! Shockingly, only six percent of criminals have been convicted over the past nine years for the twelve and a half million serious crimes committed and reported. Business, being the economic engine of society, is both directly and indirectly affected by crime, directly in theft of property, possessions and money and indirectly through reduced business confidence, loss of investment, emigration and steady erosion of the foundations upon which the economy is built. While the underlying socio-economic causes remain a long-term problem, valuable crime and rape prevention measures are required to improve the current situation, or at the very least, contain it. Sadly, the current level of financial contribution is only three percent of overall CSI budget.
